The Pastor's Mission Statement
As a pastor, it is my mission to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to promote and maintain the worship of God in and outside of the church building, and to inspire in all persons a love for Christ, a passion for righteousness, and a consciousness of their duties to God and mankind. It is my mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ so that those disciples can make more disciples in order to create a network of believers putting their faith in to action so that this world may be brought out of darkness and in to Christ’s Holy and precious light, in which individuals are transformed through His Holy Spirit through prayer, worship, sharing the Gospel, studying the Word of God, and ministering to the needs of the body of Christ and to the community and to the world. I will do all these things for God’s glory and will not refrain from doing so upon this Earth so long as I have breath, so help me God!
Rev. Jason Humberd
My name is Jason Humberd, and I am the pastor of Carlock and St. Paul's United Methodist churches, located in Etowah, TN. I graduated from Lee University with a K-8 teacher license, then graduated from TN Tech with a Master's in Instructional Leadership with a license to be a school principal. I served as a middle school teacher for three years, and an elementary teacher for over seven. I am currently attending Asbury Theological Seminary for the Master's of Divinity.
I am married to Christy Humberd and we have a son, Jackson, who is now five (the picture is a few years old). He is in the autism spectrum so we are learning new things about his condition and how we can better serve other children with autism in the church, In fact, we will accommodate any need your children may have. Christy and I have been residents of Bradley County in Cleveland, TN all our life, and just recently moved to Etowah. I taught elementary school for ten years and she served as an elementary music teacher. I have also served as an associate pastor at First Methodist of Tellico Plains and I served as the pastor of three Methodist churches in Decatur, TN which were Goodfield, Mt. Carmel, and Mt. Olivet. Christy now operates an on-line store, Green Cove Soap Company, where she sells all-natural soap, body products, and crafts. Jackson is sometimes the loud one of the bunch, including at church. We understand first-hand how it is with little ones so please don't use that as an excuse to not come visit. Bring your screaming child and we will love them just the same! Both our churches are very kid friendly!
