There is a classic hymn, "Are Ye Able", that begins, "'Are ye able', said the Master, 'to be crucified with Me?' 'Yea' the sturdy dreamers answered, 'to the death we follow Thee'.". But are you able to follow Jesus? Are you able to be crucified with Him? Do you know the cost of being a disciple? In this sermon I discuss the casual Christianity that Generation X and Generation Y often practice. I look in to what Jesus said about the cost of giving up your life for Him, and I bring to mention the famous theologian, Deitrich Bonhoeffer, concerning his proclamation of cheap grace, and how we often settle for it rather than the costly grace, of which God gave up His only Son, quite a cost for us, and so, we too must act in obedience; true obedience, not as the world sees it, but as God has commanded. It comes at a cost to follow Jesus. Examine your life and don't settle for cheap grace. Live as God's own people, highly prized, as you were bought at a great price! Glorify God by being a servant to Him and to all! That is costly grace!
