Well, we aren't to the end of the journey yet, but what is the destination? Is it heaven? Is it Jesus? Along the way, we need to stop and smell the roses, to experience heaven and Jesus in the small things along the way.
Are we there yet? No, we haven't reached the destination yet, but that must surely be our focus so that our joy may be increased, despite the flat tires and empty gas tanks we will face along the way. Enjoy the journey and look for the joy along the way!
After we awaken from our spiritual slumber and put away our clothes of darkness, we are washed in the waters of Baptism and we put on Christ. We attain spiritual nourishment by fasting and prayer, meditation on God's Word, and Holy Communion. And then we hear the Savior's call, His knock upon the door. We open the door, and as we face Him we must decide, will we stay in the comforts of where we are now or will we go and follow Jesus on that arduous journey?
Advent is a journey, not just to hear the story of the Christ child, but a journey and preparation for the return of Jesus upon the earth. Before we can begin this journey, we must lay do some basic thoughts of consideration in preparation, of which we will discuss in this message.
